“There’s a lot to be grateful for.” That’s what I’m hearing and experiencing, but trying to think my way into gratitude feels a little stressful. I start buzzing out a list of things I know to be grateful for, but I’m not really experiencing gratitude. If I were, I’d feel it in my heart and it would radiate through my being. Real gratitude opens us and floods our being like a river. When I discover something that I’m grateful for it lights me up. Instead of “I’m grateful for my beautiful children”, I discover that “I’m grateful for the way my nine year old leaps into my arms and wraps his ankles behind my back.” or “I’m grateful for the way my daughter squeezes my cheeks and squeals oh mommy, i love you SO MUCH.”
I don’t think my way to those blessings. I listen for them. What a joy they are to receive.
Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone. Gobble ’til you wobble.
