Fare you well, my honey

CS spot light lowresI was watching 20 feet from Stardom the other night and was struck by something Sting said about life and in reference to the music industry and talent.

It’s not a level playing field. It never is a level playing field. You come into life understanding that. It’s not about fairness. It’s not really about talent. It’s circumstances, it’s luck, it’s destiny. I don’t know what it is but the best people deal with that.

I think of how often Gates or Frances has complained that something isn’t fair and how often my response has been that life isn’t fair. And it isn’t. It’s more than that. It has to be otherwise there’s no story to tell. There’s no adventure to live.

We get tripped up focusing on the problem when the solution, the joy of playing, remains right under our nose. Dealing with what’s unfair means not continuing to empower that which frustrates but rather to rise up and respond to it. Love that the odds are against you. Revel in the very real possibility that you will fail. Delight in destiny and trust it like breath. We belong where we are. There is no place where our light cannot shine. How fair is that?

Stop chasing stardom. Let everything you do be a note you sing in your song. As music pours out of you, true stardom floods in. Your charisma cannot be denied. So…

Sing it, Sister.
Belt it, Brother.

Listen to the river sing sweet songs…

  1. Tatyana Belov says:

    Oh, Thank you!

  2. Molly says:

So brilliant and inspiring. Exactly what I was ready to hear right now. Thank you AGJ! x
