what the peanut taught

November 20th, 2009

Tonight my sister, whom I call Peanut, called from Paris.  She asked me how the blog was going and I told her the truth.  I said it’s going pretty well but that I tended to over-think each post, believing it had to be an extraordinary little nugget.  If it wasn’t hilarious or profound, I shouldn’t waste my time or the time of my readers.  To which my sister responded, I know but think of them as sun salutations.  Just little writings you do each day like a good stretch. I was totally gobsmacked. That makes great good sense to me.  From now on I’m going to think of this blog as a “fun salutation”.  If something raw and beautiful comes through, great.  If it’s messy and awkward, so be it.  I’ve judged myself long enough.  It’s time to allow something other than my thoughts to come through.  Namaste.  Or as Frances likes to say Mommyste.
